.教学内容分析
本单元话题为“主题公园”,主要描写了各种不同类型的主题公园,各项语言活动也都是围绕主题公园展开。本单元共分八个部分。
Warming-up 部分通过四张图片引出话题“普通公园和主题公园”,为后面的主题作了一个热身运动。
Pre-reading 部分设置了两个开放性问题,目的是培养学生对本单元话题的预测以及清除一些阅读障碍。这部分为接下来的阅读作了很好的铺垫,学生可以展开想象来回答这两个问题。
Reading 部分具体描写了普通公园和主题公园的不同之处,列举了6 个不同主题公园。作者详细描述了运动,历史和文化以及迪斯尼3个主题公园的具体特征和设计目的。Comprehending 部分包括三组练习,主要目的是为了帮助学生更好地理解Reading部分的文章以及如何抓中心思想和深挖主题内涵。
Learning about Language 部分分为两个部分:Discovering useful words and expressions 和Discovering useful structures.第一部分要求学生在把握文章的基础上,掌握重点词汇的词义及运用,这更注重培养学生运用上下文猜测词义的能力以及培养用英文思维的习惯。第二部分则结合文章学习构词法。
Using Language 部分分为listening ,reading and speaking, writing和speaking。
Listening是介绍中国民族文化公园,通过Ricky和Lucy的观光旅游让我们了解到中国各少数民族的风土人情及生活习惯,听时做课文的1、2部分,听后独立思考,再做小组讨论:这一听力材料拓展了学生的文化视野,增加了学生的知识面。
Reading and speaking部分介绍了位于法国的未来公园,旨在培养学生的想象力和创造力 以及在阅读中获取细节的能力。
Writing要求学生写下创建的主题公园并充当导游进行介绍。写作部分增长学生的语言知识、提高学生的语言技能,同时还能让学生结合个人经验充分体验他人在个别主体活动方面的感受,加强个人合作意识、陶冶情操,提高自身素养。
Speaking紧紧围绕“问路与指路”话题:根据课文提供的信息让学生创建一幅主题公园的平面图并进行有意义的对话实践。此话题生活气息浓厚,鼓励学生积极想象,培养了学生的创新思维能力和生活实践能力。
Summing up部分帮助学生整理、巩固本单元所学到的知识,包括学到的关于主题公园的知识,有用的动词、名词、表达方式和新的语法项目。Learning Tip部分就英语翻译方面给出了一些建议,建议学生多看公园里的英语标记并从中比较中英差异。.
二.教学目标和要求
根据《英语新课程标准》关于总目标的具体描述,结合高一学生实际和教材内容,我们将教学目标分为语言知识、语言技能、学习策略、情感态度、文化意识五个方面。
1.知识目标(Knowledge)
① 词汇(Vocabulary): theme, amuse, various , shuttle, charge , admission, profit, souvenir, athletic, brand, equipment, sneaker, minority, etc.
② 短语(Phrases and expressions):a variety of, come to life, up-to-date, meet one’s need, involve sb.in sth., name after etc.
③ 语法(Grammar):构词法(Word Formation).能掌握合成词的构成以及根据构词法的原则变换各种词性。
2.能力目标(Ability)
能运用所学语言知识描述普通公园和主题公园的不同之处以及运动,历史和文化以及迪斯尼3个主题公园的具体特征和设计目的;根据已知信息和自身的想象力来设计主题公园,综合提高运用英语进行听,说, 读, 写的能力;
3. 情感目标(Affection)
在教学活动中通过小组活动培养学生的合作精神和互助精神。
4.文化意识 (Culture awareness)
通过本单元的学习,了解主题公园是以特定的文化内容为主题,以经济盈利为目的,以现代科技和文化手段为表现,以人为设计创造景观和设施使游客获得旅游体验的封闭性的现代人工景点或景区。
三.教学重点和难点
1重点词汇:theme, charge, involve, amuse, profit, vary.
2语法:构词法(Word Formation)
3难点: 运用所学知识表达自己的想法; 如何把握每一段的中心思想; 如何能就课文内容完成一些开放性的话题讨论,能把课文的内容得以延伸与拓展;指导学生通过小组合作来完成对主题公园的设计,培养创新思维和合作的能力。

本单元共分为四个部分,具体课时教师可根据自身教学实践进行适当地安排和调整。

Unit 5 Theme parks
Period 1: Warming-up and Reading
“Theme parks--- fun and more than fun”
1. Teaching aims:
1) To develop the students’ listening, speaking, reading, writing abilities, especially the reading ability ,learn to use some reading strategies such as guessing, , skimming , scanning and so on;
2). To get the students to learn about certain kinds of theme parks;
3). To grasp some useful words and expressions in this passage, such as meet one’s need , come to life etc.;
4). To learn the writing style of this passage.
2. Teaching method: Task-based teaching
3. Teaching important points:
Train the students’ reading ability—skimming and scanning.
4. Teaching difficult points:
Find the structure of the text and design a fantasy theme park..
5. Teaching procedures:
Step 1 Pre-class preparation
Let the students enjoy a video of a theme park to experience the thrills from it and meanwhile to learn some basic knowledge of theme parks.
Step 2 Warming-up (To brainstorm the background knowledge for the whole unit and motivate the students’ interest in theme parks)
At the beginning of the class, we can get the students to talk about some local parks which they are quite familiar with. The students can talk freely as they like.
1. What do you do in your spare time? Have you ever been to some parks?
2. What do you see in the park?
3. How do you enjoy yourself?
Step 3 Lead-in and presenting the first two paragraphs(To cultivate the students’ listening abilities)
The teacher can arouse the students’ interests by showing a video of some traditional parks with a listening material to go with.
T: well , it seems that all of you have had a very good time in parks and more people nowadays would like to choose parks as their favorite places to relax themselves.
Q1: Would you like to catch a glimpse of those beautiful parks?
S: yeah…
T: Let’s have a look at some beautiful parks and see how people enjoy themselves (video of parks)
After finishing the video clip, the teacher can go through the listening material with some explanations if necessary.
T: It sounds a good idea to go to these nice parks without costing much money. However, as a matter of fact, those traditional parks can almost not meet the taste of people who are seeking for thrills. And next we are going to touch some amazing parks. Let’s see what they are like.
Continue enjoying the second video of the theme parks and at the same time get the students to finish off the listening material with blanks which highlights the differences of features between theme parks and traditional parks.
After finishing the video clip, the teacher can still go through the listening material and get the students to guess the meaning of some key words through the context. Then make clear about the definition of theme parks and practise recognizing some theme parks among the parks in warming-up in our textbook.
Step 4. While-reading for the first two paragraphs.
(Compare the differences between theme parks and traditional parks. Cultivate the students’ reading abilities for detailed information )
T: It is quite obvious that there are a lot of differences between theme parks and traditional parks. Now please read the first two paragraphs carefully and work out the differences and the similarities.
T: Since we have got a general idea of theme parks ,can you name some theme parks in China?
Step 5. While-reading for the next paragraphs
1. Skim the theme parks mentioned in the text.(To improve the students’ reading abilities for quickly getting the information.)
T: Today we are going to touch more theme parks, now please read the text fast to catch what theme parks are mentioned.
Then the students are offered with 6 pictures related to 6 different theme parks and they are asked to match the pictures with exact theme parks.
2. Scan Para. 3 to Para. 5 for detailed information about theme parks(To improve the students’ reading abilities for getting the specific information.)
T: Well-done! If you want to explore these theme parks to find more, please read Paras 3 to 5 carefully.
1. What exciting activities do these parks offer?
2. Why do the theme parks offer these activities to customers?
3. How do the big companies make a profit by running these theme parks?
Step 6. Post-reading (Consolidation )
T: After reading the 3 theme parks , what do you think they have in common?
One thing is for sure. That is great fun . As we have learned that there are a lot of differences between traditional parks and theme parks, there is still another big difference – theme parks are more than fun.
T: Why are theme parks more than fun.? Read the text again and seek the answers and supporting details..
Step 7.Task on designing a fantasy theme park.( To cultivate the students’ creativities , hands-on learning experience and the spirit of cooperation)
T: Now that theme parks are always great fun and I think it must be more fun if you try your hand in designing your own fantasy theme parks. Ok now you are supposed to be a theme park-designer and your theme park must cover the 3 aspects we mentioned above , that is, exciting activities, basic purpose and how to make a profit.
Group work
Work in groups to design your fantasy theme park with pictures and illustrations.
Step 8.Homework
1. Finish designing your fantasy theme park with pictures and illustrations ( 文字说明) to go with.,
2. Read the text fluently and try to find useful expressions and some beautiful sentences.
3. Know more about theme parks from the Internet.

1. provide
“提供,供给,为某人配备”,常用的结构为:
provide sb. with sth. 或 provide sth. for sb.

2. amuse
“使…发笑,使…开心,给…娱乐(消遣)”
His silly jokes amused the children.

另外,amuse还常用其过去分词形容词或V-ing形式形容词,其名词为amusement。
The audience was amused by Jiang Kun’s cross talk.
It was amusing to watch the trained elephant performance.

3. escape
既可用做不及物动词,做“逃脱,逃走”解,常接from介词短语;也可用做及物动词,当“逃避,避开”解,后接名词或动词ing形式。如:
Make a hole and let the water escape.
They manage to escape form the burning building.
You were lucky to escape punishment/being punished.
How did he escape death/ being killed in the fire?
We go south to escape the winter.
4. a bit
“一点儿,一会儿”,放在形容词、副词前, 相当于a little。如:
Wait a bit, please.
Come and rest a bit.
Your article is a bit too long for our paper.
I am thirsty. I want to have a bit of water.
注意:not a bit = not at all
not a little = very much
He is not a bit tired.
He is not a little tired.
5. charge
“要价,收费,索取”,可作及物或不及物动词,常与for连用。如:
How much do you charge for mending a pair of shoes?
They charged me 100 yuan for a single room for one night.
另外,也可用作名词,意为”价钱,费用“
Is there any charge for having the goods delivered?
6. involve
“牵连,牵涉;包含,需要”,一般不用进行式,常与in, with连用。如:
The problem involves us all.
Don’t get yourself involved in their problems.
This job involves traveling abroad most of the time.
He is involved in his study all day long.
7. come to life
“苏醒;恢复知觉;恢复生气;活跃起来;活了;兴奋起来”。如:
When he came to life, he found it was dark.
Everything came to life when the fairy waved her hands.
Step 3 Discovering useful words and expressions
1. Find words and expressions that mean the same:
Theme: a main subject or idea
Equipment: set of things needed for an activity
Sneakers: shoes used for sports and outdoor activity
Settlers: people going to live in a new area with a small population
Fantasy: unlimited imagination
Experiment: a careful test to try out an idea
Minority: a small number or part; less than half
Come to life: become real; become alive
